Just two years into our ambitious five-year strategy, we have reached 30 million learners, educators and caregivers through more than 40 projects in 141 countries — and built a network of 8,477 trained youth ambassadors. Our #ActForEarlyYears campaign has led to millions of dollars of new funding pledges for the young and most vulnerable. None of this would have been possible without YOU—our incredible supporters, hard-working #GlobalYouthAmbassadors and passionate friends who help us #UnlockBigChange every day. 👏 Together, through education, we are tackling issues ranging from climate and conflict to gender equity and disability inclusion. Here’s to building an even brighter future in 2025! 🥂

📑 Publication Alert 📑 South Africa’s #G20 Presidency theme of “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability” creates a historic opportunity to showcase how investing in early childhood care and education can simultaneously address the triple threat of unemployment, inequality, and poverty while delivering a powerful triple benefit: 🌟nurturing children’s potential, 🌟creating meaningful jobs in the female-led care economy, and 🌟enabling parents and carers to participate in the workforce. We used the occasion of yesterday's G20 seminar, “New solutions for population-level access to quality Early Childhood Care and Education” to elevate ECD within the G20 agenda with the brief below. The brief is co-published with our partners SmartStart South Africa and Theirworld under the banner of the global Act for Early Years campaign. It showcases the comprehensive systems-thinking approach adopted by the South African government in addressing ECD service delivery gaps and calls for sustained investments and south-south-north learning and knowledge exchange. Yesterday's seminar was attended by the Department of Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, G20 country delegates, international funders and NGOs. #G20ECCE #G20Education #G20SouthAfrica

  • Did you, or someone you know, drop out of school due to your LGBTQ+ identity? This June, to mark Pride Month, Theirworld will release new research showing that LGBTQ+ youth are more likely to drop out of secondary school education. This builds on our research last year on how [un]safe American and British LGBTQ+ youth are feeling at school. As part of our media activity for this campaign, we are seeking a case study of 🇬🇧 a young person in the UK/US 🇺🇸 📢 ideally aged 18–28 📰 willing to share their experience of leaving secondary school due to their LGBTQ+ identity (This could include leaving school entirely, transferring to another institution, or switching to home-based learning.) 🏫 The individual should be comfortable sharing their story for use in a press release or media article and be available for potential interviews. Theirworld will provide full background on the research, along with media training and support to feel confident and prepared. All young people deserve a #SafePlaceToLearn. If you want to help us tell this story, email marcomms@theirworld.org

  • 📈 Aid spent on pre-primary education in 2023 was the second highest since records began in 2002. But without persistent efforts to prioritise early years investments, hard-won gains face being reversed. Last week at the World Bank Spring Meetings Theirworld and Center for Global Development in partnership with the Act for Early Years campaign, brought together global leaders for a high-level event: Increasing Financing for the Early Years: Returns for Children, Women, and Economies 🎥 Watch this powerful conversation between Theirworld Chair Sarah Brown and Her Excellency Nadia Fettah, Morocco’s Minister of Finance: Morocco is showing what’s possible with bold leadership and sustained investment — rural preschool enrolment has skyrocketed from 32% to 92%. But the benefits go far beyond education: job creation, empowered communities, and increased economic participation for women. 💬 Minister Fettah shares insights on:  • Why finance ministries must drive reform • The importance of local partnerships and civil society • How early years investment sparks long-term economic ripple effects • What evidence influences finance decision-makers — and where gaps remain The event opens with inspiring remarks from Rachel Glennerster and features an expert panel including: Diana Rodriguez Franco of the Inter-American Development Bank, Luis Benveniste of the The World Bank and Melinda Bohannon of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office — moderated by Maniza Ntekim of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. 💡 As momentum builds around global financing the early years, Morocco’s story is a reminder: this is not just a budget line — it’s an investment in dignity, opportunity, and the future. #EarlyYears #FinanceForDevelopment #GlobalDevelopment #Childcare #ECD #LeadershipInAction #InvestInChildren
